Beyond the Basics for Optimal Dental Health

We go beyond what's expected from a general dentist because your dental health is about more than just a pretty smile. In fact, it's about a lot of things:

First, it's about . . .
Us learning what's important to YOU about your teeth so that we can help you establish a plan to achieve YOUR goals for dental health, function, and appearance.

Second, it's about . . .
Your general health is actually the foundation of good dental health. That's why we ask so many questions about your general health. We'll make recommendations that can improve your body's ability to support your teeth for a lifetime. (Also, you are what you eat, and teeth determine what you can eat!) Appropriate exercise, good nutrition, adequate rest, and annual evaluations by your physician are all key to the long-term health of your teeth and gums.

Services we offer:

  • Referrals to physicians
  • Exercise recommendations
  • Snoreguards for you or your sleeping partner to enhance rest
  • Conservative vitamin recommendations to supplement your nutrition and maintain your resistance against gum disease

Third, it's about . . .
Your gums protect the attachment of your teeth to your jawbone. This protective envelope of tissue is very fragile, but when your general health (particularly your immune system) is good, it has a tremendous capacity to repair itself. The byproducts of bacteria that live in the pockets between teeth and gums are major threats to your oral health. Bite and developmental problems that can foster gum problems.

We offer specific services to care for your gums, including detailed charting, diagnostic visits, and in-office therapy. We will carefully evaluate the condition of your gums and underlying bone to help you preserve a foundation for good dental health, function, and appearance.

Our gum care services:

  • Non-surgical removal of excess gum tissue, where appropriate
  • Non-surgical treatment of gum disease, where appropriate
  • Professional maintenance following treatment for gum disease
  • Referral to specialists, if necessary
  • Effective home care recommendations
  • Antibiotic and antiseptic preventive services

Fourth, it's about . . .
Strong, healthy teeth are vital for good dental function. We offer the latest restorative services to maintain and replace tooth structure that may have been lost to decay, disease, or breakage.

Our restorative services:

  • Tooth-colored fillings
  • Crowns - all metal, all porcelain, composite resin, or porcelain fused to metal
  • Root canals
  • Dental implant restorations - individual teeth, groups of teeth, or all teeth, where appropriate
  • Adhesive restorations
  • Dental sealants
  • Temporary crowns and fillings

Fifth, it's about . . . A well-aligned bite, relaxed jaw muscles, and a comfortable jaw joint are essential for your teeth to function at their best, and they are the keys to the long-term preservation of dental health, function, and appearance. That's why we're so careful to examine how your teeth fit together during chewing, speaking, working, resting, and sleeping.

One of the things we look for are signs of abnormal or excessive clenching and grinding that could cause breakdown of your teeth and oral structures. We can also replace missing teeth that are needed for good dental function. These missing teeth may have been lost due to gum disease, decay, developmental problems, or injury. We also make recommendations to slow down the wear on your teeth that naturally occurs over a lifetime of use. In any case, if there are problems or concerns, we can recommend appropriate corrective treatment.

Our bite services:

  • Occlusal (bite) adjustments
  • Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder (TMD) diagnosis and treatment
  • Nightguards
  • Occlusal guards
  • Dental implant restorations - individual teeth, groups of teeth, or all teeth, where appropriate
  • Removable and non-removable bridges (both immediate and replacement)
  • Removable and non-removable dentures (both immediate and replacement)
  • Full restoration of the teeth without dentures, where appropriate
